From individual animals to global responsibility: in the agricultural science programs at TUM, you’ll gain insights into all fields of agricultural science. Over the course of your studies, you can choose your own area of focus: animal husbandry and health, agricultural engineering, agricultural economics, crop production, digitalization in agriculture, and many more.

In the master’s programs, you’ll find even more specialized tracks: Agricultural Systems Science, Agricultural Biosciences, or perhaps International Agricultural Policy and Governance? Additionally, depending on your program, you can earn up to 65 of your 120 credits through elective courses. Numerous project-based assignments and study abroad opportunities allow you to gain many new insights—beyond the lecture hall—that will enrich your personal and professional life.

Studying in Freising, the City with the Cathedral and the University

The agricultural sciences program at TUM is primarily based on the Freising-Weihenstephan campus, but TUM has close ties to many universities worldwide—apply for a study abroad program and get even more out of your studies.

Current research projects: Thermoregulation of calves and energy management

At the booth, we’ll also be presenting current research projects from the Chair of Animal Nutrition and Metabolism led by Prof. Julia Steinhoff-Wagner. For example, we’re looking at thermoregulation in calves: calf blankets, straw bedding, or being licked dry by the mother? What’s the best way to support the calf? These and many other questions are being investigated at TUM.

Fredrik Regler from the Chair of Agricultural Systems Engineering, headed by Prof. Heinz Bernhardt, will present the H2Cow project. H2Cow is an energy management concept that, among other things, investigates the storage of excess PV electricity. The project aims to contribute to the further electrification of agriculture.
