Many horses and ponies are good feed converters. If the feed continuously contains high amounts of starch and sugar, the animals become overweight over the years. The problem is intensified by physical inactivity. With increasing weight, the risk of horses developing diet-related diseases such as insulin resistance, equine metabolic syndrome and laminitis grows. Especially overweight horses and ponies suffer from these metabolic disorders.
Special feed mixes containing compound feed components that are poor in starch and rich in fibre such as JELUVET® are suitable for helping overweight horses and ponies to lose weight. Our JELUVET® lignocellulose has a consistent crude fibre (CF) content of more than 65% of dry matter or an ADL proportion (lignin) of more than 20% of dry matter.
JELUVET® evens out variations in the crude fibre content of natural feeds and standardises the crude fibre concentration of horse feed.
