The system is called Pro Dromi Farrow to Wean and is totally adapted for farrowing loose. The concept is to raise piglets from birth to fattening in the same place. The main advantages of this system are as follows:
- The well-being of the piglets is enhanced; they are no longer moved to post-weaning and are therefore more serene, which has a positive impact on the animals' growth.
- There is no longer any need for labour to move the animals and wash the room between the maternity and the post-weaning area.
- The crate incorporates Vereijken features, pioneered by the Dutch free-range farrowing company: opening of the fencing a few days after the piglet's birth, piglet nests creating a double environment, technical floor adapted to piglets and sows, etc.
- A system that prepares the animals for life in large fattening groups
