The ensiling stage determines the amount of preserved feed value. A well-compacted silage clamp with minimal oxygen entrapment forms the basis for optimal fermentation, reduced heating, and consistent forage quality.
Successful ensiling depends on three key factors:
Holaras supports this process with machines designed for silage distribution and compaction. By following the so-called lasagna principle, building the clamp in thin layers of no more than 20 to 30 cm and continuously compacting them, a stable silage clamp is created with higher feed value and fewer storage losses.
Work in layers of no more than 20 to 30 cm and keep compacting continuously; that's where the real gain is achieved.
Viking silage spreader and Stego 285 silage packer in practice
In this video with German contractor R&M Krämer, you can see the Holaras Viking silage leveller working in combination with the Stego 285 silage compaction roller, equipped with the redesigned steel edge compactor and height pulling system.
The new steel edge compactor has been developed based on practical farming experience and provides an even more uniform and efficient compaction result.
Thanks to an additional pivot point, the edge roller can apply pressure across its entire width independently of the clamp angle. This ensures optimal compaction, even deep into the edges of the silage clamp.
In addition, the edge roller is positioned almost in line with the main roller. As a result, the clamp corners are compacted more effectively than with systems where the edge roller is mounted behind the machine. The result is improved edge compaction and higher silage quality.
Benefits of the new steel edge compactor
With this redesigned edge compactor, Holaras takes another step forward in user-friendliness, safety and silage quality. An innovation developed with practical experience in mind, contributing to even better forage preservation.
a📷In addition to the Viking, Holaras offers a wide range of silage levellers for different capacities and applications. The Stego silage compaction rollers are also available in various models, with several expansion options such as edge compactors, ballast weights, sideshift adjustment and height pulling systems. This ensures a suitable solution for every silage clamp and every working method.
