The smaXtec Bolus measures key health parameters directly in the cow's reticulum – precisely where the most important dairy cow diseases develop. As the only system of its kind, smaXtec continuously records the internal body temperature of every individual cow with a relative accuracy of ± 0.01 °C. This allows you to identify changes at the first immune response and see what remains hidden with systems that only measure externally. As a result, you can act preventively before clinical symptoms appear.
The difference lies within
Ear tags and collars primarily monitor the cow's behaviour: activity, feeding behaviour or rumination. The smaXtec Bolus takes the decisive step further and measures directly inside the animal. In addition to internal body temperature, the bolus measures water intake and drinking cycles, rumination based on motility, and activity. This keeps you informed about every cow, from fresh-calved cows to dry cows. With the optional smaXtec pH Bolus, you can also measure pH and see how your ration is affecting the rumen.
The result: you identify changes as early as possible and make confident decisions in health, reproduction, feeding and herd management.
‘Attach the antenna, insert the bolus, and it just works. We don't need a PC or any other antennas that have to communicate with one another. There is no need to worry about updates. You can access your data from anywhere. That was ultimately the decisive factor. Minimal installation effort and being able to get started straight away.’ Hayo Verbeek, Germany, 315 cows
What makes the smaXtec Bolus unique?
Once administered. In use for life.
The smaXtec Bolus is administered once and then operates on battery power without requiring maintenance. Thanks to the lifetime bolus guarantee, it is a reliable solution for the cow's entire lifetime. The smaXtec Base Station automatically reads the data and transmits it to the smaXtec Cloud TruD® via its integrated internet connection. When new features or improvements are released, boluses already in use benefit too: they receive updates automatically over the air. This keeps the system up to date throughout the cow's lifetime. All you need is a power socket – no PC, local server or complex infrastructure is required. You can access your herd data at any time via smartphone or PC.
