Measuring individual feed intake can be expensive, slow, and hard to scale. Feeder systems and weeks of data collection put efficiency data out of reach for most dairies.
The Metabolic Efficiency Index (MEI) changes that. An animal's metabolic gas output reflects how efficiently it converts feed into energy, so MEI can rank cows without an intake trial. QuickFlux, C-Lock's new measurement technology, delivers individual animal efficiency data in just 2 measurements — three to five minutes per cow at the headlock, no feeders, no adaptation period.
This session covers how MEI is derived, how it compares to intake-based measures, and how dairies can screen whole herds instead of test groups.
