Canthaxanthin, an essential carotenoid pigment, can be widely found in edible fungus, algae, marine crustaceans, and in the skin and organs of many birds (flamingo and ibis) and fish. Leader® Red contains stabilized canthaxanthin in dextrin coated matrix of carbohydrates and lignosulfonate. It’s mainly used in poultry complete feeds in combination with yellow xanthophylls to enhance the desirable golden color of the broiler skin and egg yolk to meet customer’s demands. It is also used with pink carotenoid, astaxanthin, to color the fish flesh of salmon, trout, aquarium fish, turtle, etc.
