In the build-up to EuroTier 2026, DLG, the German Agricultural Society, organised the EuroTier 2026 Innovation Award. Leveraging a combination of hardware and software technologies, Lely has received two recognitions for its innovations: Lely Zeta AI calving monitor and Lely Hub.
Following the announcements of Lely Zeta in 2024 and Lely Hub in 2025, both concepts were further developed and tested with dairy farmers. Lely supports farmers with innovative solutions in robotics and data systems, leveraging AI-technologies in supporting farmers with data driven insights for better decision-making and peace of mind.
From innovation to daily farm practice
Lely Zeta AI calving monitor has received a silver medal, recognising the innovative character of the AI-powered monitoring system. It marks an important milestone in its journey from concept to practical application on dairy farms. The solution was developed in close collaboration with dairy farmers, field experts and AI specialists. This combination of on-farm experience and technological expertise has helped shape a solution designed around the practical needs of dairy farmers.
Lely Zeta AI calving monitor uses artificial intelligence and computer vision to continuously monitor cows without requiring wearable sensors. By analysing behaviour, posture and movement patterns, the system can identify signs associated with approaching or ongoing calving and provide the farmer with timely insights and notifications, for one of the most labour-intensive and unpredictable moments on a dairy farm.
This can help farmers direct their attention to the cows that may need it most, while reducing the need for continuous manual observation. In this way, Lely Zeta AI calving monitor supports a more proactive and data-driven approach to monitoring the calving process.
“We are extremely proud to receive this silver medal,” says Paul van Adrichem, Manager Zeta. “This recognition underlines the innovative potential of Lely Zeta AI calving monitor and is a great acknowledgement of the dedication, expertise and commitment of everyone involved. Together with dairy farmers and specialists, we have worked to transform an innovative concept into a solution that can support farmers during one of the most crucial moments on the farm.”
Safeguarding valuable data and insights
Lely Hub was also recognised as an official DLG-accepted innovation. Through the years, farmers have increasingly automated processes on their farm, further improving the welfare of their cows and supporting the farm's operations. Embracing digital solutions introduces a new layer to farm operations. While it may not have been a primary focus for farmers initially, it could contribute to animal welfare.
“Business continuity is crucial for our farmers. With the increase in digital services on the farm, data security is essential. Lely Hub can provide support in this by offering our farmers a dedicated server built improve resilience against digital threats.” says Winfried Perner, Manager Proposition Digital Farming at Lely DACH.
Lely Hub addresses this need by offering a dedicated device that improves the safety and security of data from Lely robots. This hardware is installed at the farm, between Lely robots and the farmer's computer, and is managed and monitored by Lely. Automatic updates and backups improve uptime for robots and enhance business continuity.
These recognitions are a great achievement for everyone involved in the development of both solutions and demonstrate the strength of innovation across our company.
