About the Speaker

Dr. Kerstin Duncker ist Tierärztin im Produktmanagement bei smaXtec mit Schwerpunkt Innovation. Sie verbindet fundierte veterinärmedizinische Expertise mit der Entwicklung praxisnaher digitaler Lösungen für das Herdenmanagement. Durch ihre langjährige Tätigkeit in der Rinderpraxis verfügt sie über umfassende Erfahrung in der Betreuung von Milchviehbeständen, insbesondere in den Bereichen Stoffwechselgesundheit, Fruchtbarkeit, Eutergesundheit und Kälbermanagement. Darüber hinaus ist sie selbstständig in der Beratung zur Kälber- und Jungtieraufzucht tätig. Von 2004 bis 2010 studierte sie Veterinärmedizin an der Universität Leipzig. 2013 promovierte sie berufsbegleitend an der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen zum Thema embryonale Mortalität bei Milchkühen. 2015 erwarb sie die Zusatzbezeichnung „Bestandsbetreuung im Erzeugerbetrieb Rind”. Ihre Schwerpunktthemen sind Rindergesundheit, Wissensvermittlung und der praxisnahe Einsatz digitaler Technologien in der Milchviehhaltung.

What do cows do when no one is watching? The new smaXtec behavior module makes their daily routines continuously and systematically visible for the first time — from lying, standing, and movement times to daily patterns, lying synchronicity, and differences in routines between animal groups. Using concrete real-world examples, the presentation shows how these new insights help to more accurately assess lying comfort, barn workflows, and group dynamics, as well as to detect notable changes throughout the day at an earlier stage.
