Fence Robot - From Concept to Product
Livestock farmers waste countless hours mowing and inspecting pasture fences. But not for much longer, because the “RoboZaun” project, funded by the BMLEH, is developing a robotic fencing system to market maturity. The core innovation is an autonomous robot that visually recognizes pasture fences, detects defects, and mows beneath the fence, even in the case of wolf-proof fences. The system significantly reduces the effort required for fence maintenance, increases the productivity of human labor, and thus eases the burden on livestock farmers. A particular challenge in its development is ensuring reliable, robust, and safe operation under the highly variable conditions found in pastures.
