Highly appreciated talk of our colleague Marius Beumer at the Spring Meeting of the Pig Veterinary Society (PVS) in Edinburgh

In his presentation "Streptococcus suis - A Deep Dive into Diagnostics: From Culture through PCR to Sequencing", he highlighted the importance of differentiating and characterizing isolates from clinically affected pigs using both established and emerging laboratory techniques.

Methods such as MALDI-TOF, serotyping, Multilocus Sequence Typing (MLST) and Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) play a key role in identifying relevant strains and ultimately support the development of effective autogenous vaccines.
