About
Horse slaughter offers opportunities for animal welfare, sustainable resource utilization, and regional value creation in a context often characterized by public controversy and societal reservations. The research project PfeMo explores and develops innovative approaches to horse slaughter on the farm, a mobile unit adapted to the particularities of the horse, new training concepts, and SOPs. The presentation focuses on the significance for animal welfare of semi-mobile horse slaughter, the development of a competency-based training program including new hands-on training methods, and the creation of SOP designed to ensure animal welfare, process quality, and occupational safety.
