More vacuum, faster milking – and what about the teats? Dr Michael Hubal, advisor for milking technology and udder health at the Chamber of Agriculture of Lower Saxony, is investigating at Milchhof Reeßum (750 cows) how the ADF Lux milking cluster affects milking and teat condition at higher vacuum. After the first weeks, a significant increase in milk flow was observed, accompanied by a corresponding saving in time per cow and with teat condition unchanged. Does that hold in the long term? In conversation, Dr Hubal presents the results, puts them in context and explains what they can mean for milking routine and throughput.
