Getting More Value from Individual Animal Data: Transparent Data Architectures for Swine Farming
The “GlasSchwein” project, funded by the BMLEH, is developing a transparent data architecture for the digital exchange of information along the entire pork value chain. By linking individual animal data using UHF RFID technology and a shared online platform, data becomes interoperable, processes become more efficient, and decisions are better informed. The goal is to monetize data, establish new standards for quality assessment, and open up additional marketing opportunities for farmers. This will make pork production more sustainable, more economical, and better equipped for the future.
